This solution relies on self-developed electro-optical gimbal from Taking Technology to build a three-in-one intelligent traffic inspection system of “UAV + automated hangar + AI recognition”. Integrated with a high-resolution EO camera, uncooled infrared TI and laser ranging module, the pod is mounted on UAV platforms to deliver all-weather, long-range and automated inspection of urban arterial roads, highways and transportation hubs. The system can automatically detect traffic incidents including illegal parking, road occupation, pedestrian intrusion, road debris and abnormal congestion. Combined with AI algorithms, it realizes target positioning and real-time early warning, promoting the transformation of traffic management from manpower-based prevention to technology-based prevention, and improving law enforcement efficiency and road safety.
Illegal Parking Management on Urban Arterial Roads: UAVs perform autonomous cruising to identify motor vehicles occupying no-parking zones such as fire lanes, bus stops and sidewalks, enabling closed-loop law enforcement covering "voice reminder – snapshot evidence collection – SMS notification".
Response to Highway Incidents: The system rapidly detects high-risk events including pedestrian intrusion, vehicle breakdowns, emergency lane occupation and low-speed driving. UAVs can arrive at the scene within 3 minutes and coordinate with ground police forces.
Patrols at Night and in Severe Weather: Infrared imaging is used to detect pedestrians and animal intrusions on unlit road sections, or patchy fog areas in foggy weather, improving traffic safety at night and under extreme weather conditions.
Traffic Flow and Congestion Analysis: Continuous aerial survey captures data such as traffic density, queue length and travel speed, providing data support for signal timing optimization and traffic diversion.
Security Patrols in Key Areas: UAV swarms are deployed for major events, around schools and commercial hubs to deliver three-dimensional, dead-zone-free dynamic monitoring and rapid response.
Case 1: Intelligent Law Enforcement Project for Illegal Parking on Arterial Roads in a Provincial Capital City
To tackle the difficulties in evidence collection for illegal parking and insufficient law enforcement manpower on urban arterial roads, the traffic management bureau of the city deployed 28 sets of UAV automatic nests equipped with Taking TZ096FD electro-optical gimbal on roadside high poles along 12 strictly managed road sections including Zhongshan Road and Jiefang Avenue, building a fixed intelligent law enforcement network independent of flying UAVs. The system conducts automatic cruising scanning every day. EO is used to identify license plates and illegal parking activities, while infrared mode verifies whether vehicles are running via engine residual heat. After AI algorithms automatically confirm an illegal parking violation, laser ranging is triggered to obtain precise coordinates. An electronic evidence package containing high-definition visible images, infrared TI, GPS coordinates and timestamps is generated simultaneously and uploaded in real time to the traffic management platform over the 4G network.
Case 2: UAV Intelligent Inspection Project for a Highway in Xi’an
Taking Technology TZ096FA 3-axis 4-sensors electro-optical gimbal are mounted on UAV automatic nests for a highway in Xi’an. Integrating infrared thermal imaging (640×512), a 48-megapixel EO camera and laser ranging, the pods enable intelligent identification of traffic anomalies around the clock. AI algorithms accurately locate incidents such as pedestrian intrusion and emergency lane occupation with positioning error ≤30 m. The response time is reduced to within 12 minutes with a 6-fold efficiency improvement, forming a closed-loop highway intelligent inspection system without manual intervention.
